*Lawyer prays for more time on Documents It appears that the demobilization of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the August 9 governorship election in Osun state, Mr. Iyiola Omisore’s legal team by Governor Aregbesola’s lawyer, Chief Akin Olujinmi has taken a severe toll on the petition before election tribunal.
The tribunal Judges were also begged by Omisore’s lawyer, Mr. Alex Izinyon, SAN for more time when sat on Tuesday, explaining that they were still sorting out documents with Aregbesola’s legal team.
One of the senior lawyers employed by Omisore who pleaded anonymity and spoke in low tone was said to have expressed potent fear on the way the time allocated to petitioner’s lawyer was being mismanaged on lack of coordinated strategies.
The Senior legal practitioner dropped the hint that time is gradually sealing off the fate of Omisore’s petition, noting that, for two days running out of 14, documents to be tendered were still being sorted out with Aregbesola’s legal team, not to talk the calling of witnesses.
However, one of the counsel to Aregbesola, Mr. Yomi Obaditan who was part of the team that was cross-checking Omisore’s documents said that the petitioner’s legal team should be held responsible for their botched antics, noting that the joint inspection within the courtroom has proved Aregbesola’s lawyers right.
It would be recalled that Omisore’s lawyer, Mr. Alex Izinyon had made an attempt to tender result sheets known as form EC8A from some polling units being challenged and some duplicate copies from the bar, a situation that made him to have drawn a schedule to be used, but Aregbesola’s lawyer, Olujinmi faulted his schedule, a position that was supported by INEC and APC lawyers and upheld by the tribunal; compelling Omisore’s lawyers to pray the tribunal for stand down.
