Governor Okorocha provides free trip from Lagos/oyo to Imo state

According to Mr. Alfred Ononugbo, The Imo State Liaison Officer in Lagos, Governor Rochas Okorocha has provided buses that will convey them free of charge to Owerri, the state capital on Wednesday, December 24^th 2014.
Ononugbo advises all Imo Indigenes in Lagos to meet and assemble at National Stadium Surulere, Lagos by 8am while in Oyo State should meet at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola Ibadan same time for the journey.
This is to encourage all Imo Indigenes in Lagos and Oyo to come home and celebrate Christmas with their loved ones. Also, he assures standard and adequate Security measures have been placed accordingly in all Imo Communities. Enjoy Folks! Merry Xmas

Labour Party Renounces EX-Oyo Gov. Alao Akala

Labour Party (LP) has renounced former Oyo State Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Great Ogboru, and Tonye Princewill.

The party stated reasons that they are not the governorship candidates representing Oyo, Delta and Rivers states and are yet to field any candidate for next year’s general elections, thereby warning those parading themselves as the party’s flagbearer to stop. 

The National Caretaker Committee put in place by the organised labour – the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) – said at a news conference at the NLC secretariat in Abuja that the three men were not known as the party’s members. The LP is fictionalised with organised labour, which claimed to have registered the party, setting up a committee to conduct fresh elections after dissociating itself from the national convention held in Akure.

The committee’s chairman, Salisu Muhammed, said the party’s former national chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu and his ex-scribe were only using the three men to enrich themselves. Mohammed said those claiming to have purchased nomination forms did that fraudulently and therefore, could not represent the party.

He said: “Of recent, the media has been awashed with purported entry of Alao-Akala into our party to contest for governorship election in Oyo State. “He is said to have been given ticket by Salam and Mr. Dan Nwanyanwu – former National Secretary and National Chairman. “This situation also goes to Chief Princewill Tonye of Rivers State, Chief Great Ogboru of Delta State, as well as some followers of Governor Elechi of Ebonyi State. 

They are now the latest victims of political buccaneers. In one word, we honestly counsel you all: don’t jump from frying pan to fire.” Mohammed said the party was taking legal action against Nwanyanwu to retrieve its Certificate of Registration and other party’s property that were still in his possession. He said Nwanyanwu was earlier given a three-day demand notice on the issue, which had since elapsed, lamenting that he had chosen the path of dishonour.

Swimmer Phelps pleads guilty to drunken driving charge

According to new reports, Olympic gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps has pleaded guilty to drunken driving almost three months after he was arrested.
The 18 time gold medalist entered his plea to a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol on Friday morning. He was sentenced to a year in prison, but the prison sentence is suspended. He will be on probation for a year and a half.
A week after his arrest, USA Swimming suspended Phelps for six months.
Phelps entered a six-week treatment program in October. This is his second DUI conviction. Phelps pleaded guilty to drunken driving in 2004 in another Maryland county.
Phelps recently took to twitter to thank fans for their on-going support. In his words
“The past three months of my life have been some of the hardest times I’ve ever gone through, and the biggest learning experience that I have.”

It would be recalled that a couple of months back, a woman known as Folape Sokoya cried out that Flakky, as the actress is also known, is romancing her husband of 12 years and had destroyed her home by leading her husband into abandoning their home and 3 children.

However, in a recent interview with City People Magazine, the busty actress debunked rumours that she snatched another woman’s husband. ‘I am not married, neither am I engaged to anyone, as you can see, I am still very much single. I hope to get someone I will get married to. I am a friend to some guy whose wife has left 2 years ago but unfortunately she went on the papers to say that I have snatched her husband.

I really don’t know why and I don’t want to talk about it,’ she said. Speaking further on the likely source of the rumours by saying: ‘I wore a ring to an event and unfortunately a lady asked me: ‘are you engaged’ and I responded ‘yes,’ she asked further: ‘who?’ and I replied her to whoever and she went right to the papers to say that I am engaged and set to marry soon. 

I don’t know where she got that from. I do wear the ring in order to scare men away from me. I just wanted to be free but they won’t let you be but I thought that once they see the ring, they will keep their eyes off me.’…

These two boys scored an astonishing 277 goals between them while at Real Madrid, all in inbetween 1997 and 2003, during which the club won three Champions League titles and two La Liga titles. Fuji House of Commotion Star, Sola Onayiga Joins Politics, To Contest Lagos Assembly Under SDP

As the 2015 elections inch close, another entertainer, Sola Onayiga, aka Ireti in the popular Fuji House of Commotion sitcom, has joined other entertainers who are aspiring for political offices.

A source told us that the actress, who is seeking to represent Ikorodu 1 Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, submitted her INEC nomination last Friday, and will be running under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Onayiga was said to have submitted the form personally to the chairman of SDP, Lagos State chapter, Engineer Rufus Osula.

Popular for her character as ‘show off cook’ in the now rested drama, the thespian is also noted forCheckmate, another rested soap by the producer of Fuji House of Commotion, the late Amaka Igwe and as Madam Philo in BBC’s Story, Story - Voices From The Market Place.

Speaking to The Nation on telephone, Onayiga said, “I can’t say because I am not a politician, then things should be left undone. We need people to come out. If you are interested in correcting wrongs, you just have to come out. I want to contribute my little quota.”

According to the thespian, there is need for government to take entertainers more seriously by putting enough funds in the sector. “They see entertainers as unserious set of people. Government is not putting money into the arts in this country, all they do is invite us for their programmes to come and dance,” she said.

She noted that although it will be her first time in politics, she has affected her society positively, and will do better as a public office holder. “I have done alot for the youths in Ikorodu. I have also been resourceful to the women folks; I encourage women, especially widows on how best to move on with their lives.

On why it took her long to seek an elective post, she said, “I had to take my time to study the grounds very well.”

Onayiga said she chose the SDP platform because it is the late M.K.O Abiola’s party, and that she considered it the best way to launch her political ambition.

How Obasanjo, Tinubu, Fashola Influenced Actor Desmond Elliot Emergence To Win Lagos Assembly Seat

The emergence of Nollywood star, Desmond Elliot as All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the coming 2015 state assembly election  where he’ll be representing his people of Surulere Constituency, Lagos if he wins,  unknown to many, involved a heated disagreement among the stakeholders before the day the primaries were held.

The power-play that engulfed the air was a big one and it took decisions at the highest level before the popular actor got the nod of the leadership of the party for him to be able to unseat the perceived ally of Governor Babatunde Fashola who held the seat till date.  

According to information at our disposal, the trio of Governor Babatunde Fashola, APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who incidentally is on sabbatical from PDP influenced the decision to vote in the actor.

A close source to Asiwaju disclosed that, the seat which is held by Hon. Kabiru Lawal, a very close ally of Governor Fashola would have remained if not for the power play by the leadership. We gathered that the actor had informed Governor Fashola of his intention to vie for the post but he only told him to continue working without any concrete assurance. He then took advantage of his relationship with former President Chief Obasanjo whom he informed of his ambition at the Hilltop house in Abeokuta.

It was at this instance that ‘Baba’ who has already been romancing APC for long directly called Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to appeal to Governor Fashola to give the slot to him by allowing the actor to win. This was how Governor Fashola had a lengthy discussion with Asiwaju since the slot initially belonged to the governor. 

At the end, it was agreed that, a political position would be given to Kabiru Lawal while Desmond was voted in by delegates in the area.

Reggae dance singer, eberi papa1 of Bayelsa Timaya has opened up in a recent interview stating he’s not ready for a woman yet.
The 37 year old singer who said he would not be getting married to his baby mama anytime soon said the reason why he’s not interested in marriage is because he’s not ready to sacrifice for a woman.
“I am not yet ready to get married and anyone who is looking for that is only being deceived because I am too young to get married. Marriage is not all about money and nobody knows what I have in the bank because they are not my accountant. Musicians lie a lot, so don’t believe most of what they tell you. They are only trying to ‘package’ themselves. I am not prepared for marriage because I am not yet ready to sacrifice for any woman, I am sorry. My daughter is my life and I love her so much but marriage is not on my mind. I don’t want a situation whereby I will tell a woman I want to travel somewhere and she would be complaining.”
